Secondary school students with an interest in history may like to enter the all-Ireland project/essay competition organised by the Departments of Modern and Medieval History and Education at Trinity College Dublin in conjunction with The Irish Times, The Four Courts Press and History Ireland. The competition is open to all full-time second-level students in the Republic and the North. There is a junior category (up to Junior Certificate, 1st to 3rd form), a middle category (for Transition Year/GCSE level) and a senior category (up to Leaving Certificate/A Level). Specially commissioned medals and a prize of £100 will be awarded to the 1st placed prize winner in each category. Prize-winners, runners-up and their teachers will be invited to a reception to be held at Trinity College next May.
Project essays may be entered in one of three topic areas: Irish history, European history, local history studies.
