THE Racing Apprentice School of Education, in Kildare, holds its last open day this year on May 8th from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m.
RACE provides a 42-week residential course for 30 young people each year. RACE is the only racing school in Ireland and is the officially designated training body of the Irish Turf Club. Prospective applicants must be 15 to 17 years old and about six stone in weight.
