Current job: Presenter of The Den, RTÉ 2.
What schools did you go to? I started my schooling in the Presentation Primary School, Sexton Street, Limerick. In fifth class, we moved and I ended up with the gorgeous Salesain nuns in Fernbank, Limerick.
Best subject? My favourite subjects as opposed to my best subjects were English and geography.
Worst subject? Maths.
What's the boldest thing you ever did in school? I broke into the school one night with some friends because I realised that I had got to sixth year, I was on the school council and hadn't done anything too disruptive. That in itself annoyed me. I got caught by the school principal with one leg in the prefab window.
Who was your favourite teacher and why? I really liked my geography teacher, Mrs Hyland. She made me feel that I was personally letting her down if I didn't do well.
Who was the object of your first crush? My first love was in the boys' school across the road, Ard Scoil Rís. I obviously liked my name so much, I fancied someone with the same one - Gerry (spelt differently of course).
What was your earliest career ambition? When I was young, I liked the idea of fighting for justice and making the world a better place so being a garda seemed the ideal career. Then disaster struck. I saw their shoes and thought "no way, I couldn't be seen wearing them".
Were you cool or nerdy at school? I certainly wasn't nerdy and I don't think I was the coolest girl on the corrider either. Probably somewhere in between.
Did you go to college? I did my BA degree in Maynooth and went on to do a postgrad in communications.
What song most reminds you of your schooldays? We would try to drive the nuns mad by singing Madonna's Like a Virgin.
Were your schooldays the best days of your life? Looking back now, they were fantastic. Mind you, I didn't think so at the time, funny that!
