Next Sunday is World Home Economics Day and events organised to commemorate the day will centre around marking International Year of the Older Person. In 74 countries, this annual day aims to show that home economics is a "living subject" with relevance to all aspects of life. Over the past couple of weeks students and schools have taken part in marking this day by cooking suitable meals for older people, planning balanced meals for elderly couples or writing essays.
