The Food Safety Authority of Ireland (FSAI) wants home economics teachers to make the food safety training course of the Environmental Health Officers Association (EHOA) part of the Transition Year programme. Edel Conway, of the FSAI, says the FSAI hopes to introduce the food safety course, specifically aimed at 25,000 Transition Year students, in the near future. The EHOA launched the course last year for staff in the hospitality and catering sectors. Students who successfully complete it will receive a certificate recognised by employers.
