London - Earl Spencer's legal battle against the British government for allegedly failing to protect his family's privacy is to be heard by the European Commission later this month. The complaint, lodged by the Earl and his ex-wife, Ms Victoria Lockwood, concerns 1995 press reports that the former model was being treated at a clinic for eating disorders and alcoholism.

The case will be examined by the European Commission on Human Rights in Strasbourg on January 19th.
