A Dundalk man has been remanded in custody to appear before the local District Court on Wednesday after being charged in relation to an assault on a woman who died in hospital on Friday night. Mr James "Jimmy" McDonagh (28), of the Halting Site, Dundalk, was charged with assaulting Ms Sheila McDonagh, causing her harm, at Slieve Foy Park, Muirhevnamore, Dundalk.

He was charged under Section 3 of the Non-Fatal Offences Against the Persons Act 1997.
