Gardaí are continuing to investigate an incident in which a bank worker was shot at his home in Dublin on Tuesday night.

The victim (32) was with his partner and 10-year-old son at Corbally Green, Citywest, when a caller knocked on the front door at about 10.30pm.

When the man opened the door, the attacker carrying a 9mm handgun opened fire from the end of the short driveway, wounding the victim in his legs and hitting the front door.

The gunman, who was wearing a scarf over his face, then ran to a car driven by an accomplice. A stolen 2005 Volvo was found burned out in the Carrigmore Estate in nearby Saggart not far from the crime scene. It was examined yesterday.
