A Dublin man was yesterday found guilty of murder at the Central Criminal Court.

A Dublin man was yesterday found guilty of murder at the Central Criminal Court.

Jason Larkin (20), of Ravensdale Road, East Wall, Dublin, had pleaded not guilty to stabbing Mr Patrick Costello (31), also of East Wall, at The Plough public house on Marlborough Street on July 4th, 2002.

Mr Justice White said the only option available to him was a mandatory sentence of life in prison.

During the six-day trial the court heard that Larkin stabbed the victim after the pair had been involved in a row after drinking in The Plough bar for several hours. The force used to stab Mr Costello was "not necessary" in the context, the court heard.
