A fire on Lower Ormond Quay in Dublin caused major disruption for commuters all day yesterday

A fire on Lower Ormond Quay in Dublin caused major disruption for commuters all day yesterday. The fire started in a derelict building beside the new millennium bridge at around 4 a.m.

At the height of the blaze, five units of Dublin Fire Brigade were working to ensure it did not spread to adjoining buildings.

The fire was put out at lunch-time, and the Dangerous Buildings Section of Dublin Corporation moved in to demolish the building. Dublin Fire Brigade is carrying out a full investigation.
