A man was killed yesterday in Kilbeggan, Co Westmeath when the vehicle he was driving was in collision with a lorry.
The crash happened at about 5.30am on the Racecourse Road which is the main Kilbeggan to Mullingar road. The man was pronounced dead at the scene. The lorry driver was not seriously injured. Gardaí at Kilbeggan are investigating the collision. The road remained closed for some time yesterday and diversions were put in place.
On Wednesday, an 84-year-old pedestrian died following a road collision in Granard, Co Longford. Teresa Curran was struck by a car at Main Street at 5.50pm. She was taken to Mullingar General Hospital where she died shortly before 10pm.
