The British government has been accused of plagarising a key intelligence document on Iraq released last Monday.

Downing Street released the dossier which was praised by the US Secretary of State Colin Powell during his presentation to the UN Security Council yesterday.

But According to a report British television station Channel 4 most of the 19-page document was plagarised from three different articles, including one written by a graduate student.

The document entitled "Iraq - Its Infrastructure of Concealment Deception and Intimidation" outlines the structure of Saddam Hussein's intelligence organisations.

But, according to Channel 4 news, it was very similar to an article which appeared in a small journal, the Middle East Review of International Affairs. The article's author, Ibrahim al-Marashi, is a postgraduate student from Monterey in California.

Even typographic mistakes in the original articles are repeated, the Channel 4 report suggest.
