Doubt cast on abdication

PHNOM PENH - Cambodia's King Norodom Sihanouk has attempted to defuse controversy over his future role, saying he is not considering abdicating, a statement released by the royal palace said yesterday. But he said the fragile coalition government was effectively dead and would disintegrate.
