Bucharest - A dispute over a planned monument intended as a token of reconciliation between Romania and Hungary has cast a pall over recently improved ties between the two neighbours.

The Romanian Prime Minister, Mr Radu Vasile, facing criticism from the opposition, has changed plans to travel to a western Romanian border town today, to inaugurate the monument with his Hungarian counterpart, Mr Viktor Orban.
