Celtic wing-back Didier Agathe has signed a new contract which will keep him at Parkhead until 2006.
The former Hibernian man's current deal was due to expire in 2003, but manager Martin O'Neill has acted swiftly to tie down Agathe to a longer-term deal after helping the Hoops to the Treble last year.
"I'm delighted to commit myself to Celtic for the next five years," said Agathe.
"My first year has been a tremendous experience and I was very keen to stay with the club the size of Celtic.
"I believe that there are very exciting times ahead for Celtic and I'm looking forward to being part of this and working to bring further success to the club."
O'Neill was equally delighted that the player has committed himself to Celtic until 2006.
"Since his arrival at the club almost one year ago, his performances on the field have been consistently scintillating and he thoroughly merits the new contract which has been given to him," said O'Neill.
"I hope he continues to progress as well as he has done over the previous year."
