The late Princess Diana's work for the victims of landmines has inspired a Derryman, Mr Alan Cummings, to try to walk his way into the record books. Yesterday he set off from Ireland's most northerly point at Malin Head on a 400-mile walk to Mizen Head on the southern coast - on stilts.

He will be accompanied most of the way by Mr Richard Moore, founder of the Children in Crossfire charity, who has been blind since he was struck in the eyes by a rubber bullet 25 years ago in the Creggan area of Derry.
