The Defence Forces have issued a statement objecting to the use of the title "Oglaigh na hEireann" by any other organisation. The official Irish name of the Defence Forces had been "Oglaigh na hEireann" since the 1923 Temporary Provisions Act, the statement said. "The Defence Forces wish to strenuously object to the use of the title by any other organisation."
