A partially decomposed body has been found by a farm laneway in Co Clare.
The discovery was made in a wooded area just over a mile from Ballina on the border with Co Tipperary by a local man, shortly after 4pm yesterday.
Gardaí said that because of the condition of the body it was too early to say whether the remains were male or female. The scene has been sealed off for a forensic examination.
The remains were found on a disused farm laneway alongside a ditch.
Gardaí at Killaloe, Co Clare, are investigating.
