The RUC is investigating the death of a 31-year-old man who became ill in police custody. The RUC said the man had attended the Royal Victoria Hospital in Belfast for treatment on Sunday night, but his violent behaviour to staff made it impossible and he was discharged.

Police were then called to the hospital, where they arrested him after a struggle. In Grosvenor Road RUC station he became seriously ill and was returned to the hospital, where he died yesterday.
