More than £1,000 in cash and a Peugeot car were returned by gardai to the family of the late Lorraine Farrell in Drogheda District Court yesterday. Gardai believe Ms Farrell shot dead her companion, Patrick Farrell, last September before turning the gun on herself.

Judge Flann Brennan ordered that the car and £1,040 be restored to Mrs Margaret Farrell, executor of the estate.
