The Minister of State for Agriculture and Food said yesterday that the contribution which small local food companies make to their own regions and to the national economy is "a very significant one".
Speaking at a food fair in Thurles, Co Tipperary, organised by the local Chamber of Commerce, Mr Davern said that the food industry as a whole makes a major contribution to economic life in Ireland.
