The Taoiseach, Mr Bruton, is to address a joint session of the US Congress in Washington on September 11th. The invitation was issued to Mr Bruton by Mr Newt Gingrich, at the Speaker's Lunch during the Taoiseach's St Patrick's Day visit to the US.
Dr Garret Fitzgerald was the last Taoiseach to address a joint session of Congress in 1984.
