DART drivers are expected to work the new summer rosters from tomorrow after the company agreed to deal with their outstanding claims over compensation for disruption caused by ongoing work on the Dublin Port Tunnel and a fire at Fairview depot two years ago.

A formula for resolving the Fairview issue is to be put to the drivers, while the claim over the port tunnel is to be referred to the Labour Relations Commission.

The company had attempted to introduce new schedules unilaterally last Tuesday but the drivers continued operating the existing timetables.

National Bus and Railworkers' Union general secretary Mr Liam Tobin is optimistic that the formula will succeed in resolving the outstanding issues.
