Danish envoy dies after a short illness

THE Danish Ambassador, Mr C Ulrik Haxthausen, has died at his home at Herbert Road, Bray, Co Wicklow, after a short illness.

THE Danish Ambassador, Mr C Ulrik Haxthausen, has died at his home at Herbert Road, Bray, Co Wicklow, after a short illness.

A book of condolences will be opened on Monday and Tuesday at the Danish Embassy, 121-122 St Stephen's Green. Today, the Ambassador's remains will repose at his residence.

Mr Haxthausen has held a number of distinguished diplomatic posts since he entered the Danish Ministry of Foreign Affairs in 1958.

He took up his position as Ambassador to Ireland in 1991.
