Ireland's first Dance Club Awards were held in Dublin's Red Box last night, writes Kevin Courtney. Belfast D.J. David Holmes, won the Best Irish D.J. award just a few weeks after winning Best DJ at the Hot Press awards. The Kitchen nightclub, which is owned by U2, won Best Club Venue, and Powderbubble, the regular fetish-themed event, won Best Overall Club Night.

The Best International Artist award went to UK D.J. Carl Cox and the Best Club Flyer Design went to Genius, the Tuesday night club at the Kitchen. The awards were sponsored by Smirnoff and compered by Uaneen Fitz simons, presenter of No Disco, Network 2's late night alternative music show.
