Reductions in the number of special needs assistants are to be the subject of a Private Members’ motion from the technical group of TDs in the Dáil next Tuesday and Wednesday, reports

A protest will take place outside Leinster House on Wednesday from 3pm.

The motion calls for the restoration of full assistant numbers and a reversal of cuts in resource teaching hours. Socialist Party TD Clare Daly told a news conference yesterday: “This degree of cynicism beggars belief. We are putting the Government on notice that they have not and they will not get away with this.”
