An 18-year-old man has died after a two vehicle collision in Co Longford.

An 18-year-old man has died after the car he was travelling in collided with a tractor in Co Longford on Sunday night.

The man was a passenger in the front seat of the car when it collided with a tractor at Cloonart on the N4 at Bornacoola, Co Longford at about 11.50pm on Sunday.

The man was brought to Mullingar Hospital where he was pronounced dead.

The driver and other two occupants of the car, all males, were also brought to Mullingar Hospital. One of the passengers is in a serious condition while the driver and other passenger’s injuries are described as minor. The driver of the tractor was uninjured.

The stretch of road at Cloonart is currently closed for examination by Garda forensic collision investigators and diversions are in place via Roosky for traffic coming from Sligo and via Newtownforbes for traffic from Dublin.
