A 23-year-old man and 33-year-old woman are continuing to be questioned in relation to the murder of a young man from Co Sligo.

The body of Pat Ward (30), a member of the Travelling community, was discovered in an alleyway in Clogher, Co Tyrone at 8.15am on Saturday.

The PSNI said they are treating his death as murder and appealed to anyone with information or who was in the McCrea Park area on Friday night or early Saturday morning or who witnessed any unusual activity to bring it forward to the police.

The PSNI arrested the man and woman on suspicion of murder on Saturday morning. Police said on Sunday detectives have been granted an additional 36 hours by a court to continue questioning the pair.

Mr Ward was living in Clogher but was originally from the Sligo area. His 23-year-old brother, Tom, was murdered outside his parents’ home in Sligo in 2007 in a feud between Traveller families.

A police forensic team carried out a detailed examination of the murder scene over the weekend.
