Man found on Cavan roadside with serious injuries

Gardaí in Cavan have appealed for witnesses after a man was found on a roadside with serious injuries yesterday.

A Garda spokesman said the 21-year-old man was found on the roadside at Creighan on the Ballinagh Road out of Cavan town at about 2pm.

“He had serious injuries and was taken to Cavan Hospital for treatment. His condition is described as serious but stable.”

A 19-year-old man was arrested and held under section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act 1984. He was charged and will appear before Virginia District Court this morning.

Gardai asked anyone who may have been on the Ballinagh Road out of Cavan at Creighan between 1pm and 2pm yesterday and who saw any suspicious or unusual behaviour to contact them in Cavan, on the Garda Confidential Line on 1800 666 111 or at any Garda station.
