Man charged over Glenties protest wants to call Enda Kenny as witness

A man charged with a public order offence during a protest against Enda Kenny at the MacGill Summer School in Co Donegal wants the Taoiseach called as a defence witness.

Part-time boat painter Gerry Bray said he also wants outgoing Fine Gael TD Dinny McGinley to come to court as a witness.

He said he will be asking them to turn up for his defence when his case comes before Glenties District Court next month.

Mr Bray (45), of Church Rd, Killybegs, was accused at the court of threatening and insulting behaviour on July 27th last.

Judge Paul Kelly was told the incident happened when Mr Kenny arrived in Glenties for the summer school.

Mr Bray, who turned down an offer of legal aid, refused to enter a plea and the judge entered a “not guilty” on his behalf and adjourned the hearing to March 23rd.

When Mr Bray asked for all video evidence that was available, including footage from RTÉ, he was told the prosecution would provide him with CCTV footage from the scene.
