A 25-year-old man has been found not guilty of murder but guilty of manslaughter for his role in the killing of a man on a remote country lane in Co Offaly.

Ross Allen, with an address in Carrickmines, Co Dublin, had denied the murder charge.

At 2.19pm on Wednesday the five women and six men of the jury found him not guilty of murder but guilty of manslaughter by a unanimous verdict.

Justice Patrick McCarthy remanded Mr Allen in custody and adjourned sentencing until July 18th.
