A man armed with a knife has been overpowered after trying to hijack an Air Seychelles Boeing 737.
The man tried to enter the cockpit of the plane but was overpowered by a cabin crew member who suffered minor injuries.
The man, who was carrying an Indian passport, was arrested when the plane landed as scheduled in the Maldives. Another passenger is being questioned on suspicion of being be linked to the man in custody.
Air Seychelles called for an investigation into security at Bombay airport where the flight began.
Hours after the incident, security officials at Bombay airport prevented three passengers from boarding a flight after they were found to be carrying knives.
The three passengers had landed in Bombay after a flight from Trivandrum in southern India and were due to take a further flight to Riyadh in Saudi Arabia.
