A Galway city councillor who narrowly lost out on a place on the Fianna Fail ticket for the Galway West constituency has been added to the list by the party's national executive following a meeting last night.
The addition of Ms Margaret Cox to the list of candidates is understood to have been recommended by the party's constituency committee, which is chaired by the former Finance Minister, Mr Ray MacSharry.
Cllr Cox (33), who is married with two children, is a businesswoman who was co opted to the corporation seat of her late father, Mr Tom Cox, when he died in 1995.
