Gardaí have appealed for help in finding a gang who tied up and robbed a couple in their Co Waterford home.

Details emerged yesterday of how three men wearing balaclavas and carrying baseball bats broke in to the couple's house in Blenheim, Halfway House, Co Waterford, in the early hours of Thursday morning and tied them up.

They stole a quantity of cash, including a €500 note, from the house, before taking the family BMW car, which was parked outside. The couple, who are in their 50s, were slightly injured but managed to free themselves and call for help. Their car was found undamaged by gardaí a short time later.

Gardaí at Waterford are investigating the aggravated burglary and have appealed to the public to notify them if they are suspicious of anyone trying to spend a €500 note in and around Waterford.
