Councillor Michael Fahy has reportedly been admitted to University College Hospital Galway just hours before he was due to start a 12-month jail sentence.
According to an RTE News report the long serving local politician was admitted to hospital shortly after 7pm. Councillor Fahy was sentenced one year in jail and fined €75,000 for the misappropriation of council funds.
