Council to plant 30,000 trees

About 30,000 broad leaved trees are expected to be planted next week by the National' Tree Council. The occasion is National Tree Weekly, jointly sponsored by Coillte and Pitney Bowes, and it starts next Sunday.

More than 80 events, including tree planting, lectures, forest walks and poster competitions, are planned throughout the country. The week's theme is "Trees for Knowledge", and a special emphasis will be placed on projects to increase awareness and understanding of trees.
