Ajaccio - Corsica's elected assembly yesterday narrowly rejected nationalist efforts to press for autonomy from France. A motion opposing autonomy for the unruly island was backed by 27 of the assembly's 51 members after a stormy session which was suspended for half-an-hour by a bomb alert.
