Due to an error in the editing process, the report in Thursday's editions on the new Intoxicating Liquor Act said provisions for restaurants would not come into operation until October. In fact, under the Act, restaurants with a wine licence can now serve beer.

From October, the Act provides for alterations in procedures for applying for special restaurant licences, which allow all drinks to be sold.

Where errors occur it is the policy of The Irish Times to correct or clarify as soon as practicable.
