GAA Round-Up:Cork were narrow 1-19 to 1-17 over Galway in their National Football League Division One game at Páirc Uí Rinn yesterday. In Division Two there were wins for Meath and Armagh while Down and Tipperary couldn't be separated at Páirc Esler.

In a closely contested game Galway lost the services of Seam Armstrong to a hamstring injury in the early stages with the Rebels taking full advantage to take a 0-05 to 0-02 lead.

By halftime the lead was increased to 1-10 to 0-06 with Pearse O’Neill’s individual goal for Cork the standout moment of the half.

Joe Kernan rallied the troops at halftime and the Tribesmen came out full of intent in the second period, despite leaking an early point after the restart.

Michael Meehan and Nickey Joyce both found their range for Galway who ate into Cork’s lead, leaving it a four point game with 10 minutes remaining after Gary Sice found the Cork goal.

Cork, however, did enough to hold on for the win that leaves them top of the division ahead of today’s fixtures.

In Division Two Meath held on to secure the narrowest of wins (1-12 to 2-08) against rivals and neighbours Westmeath at Páirc Tailteann, while Armagh also won by a single point (0-13 to 0-12) against Laois in Portlaoise. Down and Tipperary shared the spoils 0-14 to 1-11 in Newry.
