The Army bomb disposal unit carried out a controlled explosion on a suspect package in Dublin city centre this afternoon.
The package, which turned out to be a hoax, was located immediately outside St Anne's Church on Dawson Street at around 3pm and destroyed soon afterwards.
The gardaí had called in the Army after receiving a telephoned warning. The entire operation took about two hours during which time traffic was diverted.
Gardaí are now investigating the incident.
