Tirana - Albania's Central Election Commission (CEC) said yesterday the first batch of results from a weekend referendum showed overwhelming approval for a new post-communist constitution.

The government of the Socialist Prime Minister, Mr Pandeli Majko, has already claimed victory but the opposition Democrats of the former president, Mr Sali Berisha, who boycotted the vote, allege the results were manipulated.
