Cork Constitution went top of the All Ireland League when they beat Terenure College 39-8 at Musgrave Park this afternoon.
With only one match left in the round-robin stage today's victory also ensures that Con will go into the semi-final stage and only Shannon - who drew at home to Buccaneers 11-11 - and Clontarf - who beat Young Munster 37-10 - can deny them home advantage for the semi-final if Con were to slip up on the last day. Shannon have also qualified for the semi-finals.
Defeat for Terenure means that they have dropped out of the top four, with Garryowen, Clontarf, St Mary's and UCD moving into third, fourth, fifth and sixth respectively.
Terenure must now beat Shannon - who need the points for home advantage in the knockout phase - at home in two weeks time and hope other results go their way if they are to progress to the semi's.
At the other end of the table, DLSP gained a bonus point by losing than less than seven to St Mary's in a game that they led for long periods. DLSP may well rue letting Mary's back in as Carlow - who were two points ahead of them this morning - lost heavliy to UCD. DLSP and Carlow are at home to Galwegians and Ballymena for their final outings which will decide the other relegation place.
