Cork Constitution 15 Garryowen 11:Cork Constitution battled to overcome a numerical disadvantage and score a 15-11 AIB Cup final win over Garryowen at Dubarry Park.
Con had lock Ian Nagle sent off just before half-time but came from behind to take the win with tries from right wing Richie Lane and outhalf Darragh Lyons.
Fullback Scott Deasy added a conversion and a penalty, while hooker Mike Sherry scored Garryowen’s only try and outhalf Conor Murray slotted two penalties.
In the AIB League Division One A, defending champions Shannon took advantage of Con's Cup run to take over at the top with a 27-16 win over St Mary's at Templeville Road.
Fionn McLoughlin grabbed two tries for the Limerick side, while John O’Connor and David Quinlan got in on the act too.
Darragh Fanning scored the homeside’s only try and it was converted by Gavin Dunne, who also notched three penalties.
In Division One B, Ballymena beat UCC 191-10 at Eaton Park, thanks largely to David O'Hara, who scored and converted his try and added three penalties.
Roger McBurney also dropped a goal for the Ulstermen.
Two second half tries from Brian Dennehy and Brian Derham were all the Cork side could muster.
Galwegians scored all their points before the break but held on in the second half to beat Ballynahinch 15-12 at Crowley Park.
Tiernan O’Halloran opened the scoring before a penalty try was awarded and Dave Clarke added five points with the boot.
An Alan Kingsley penalty helped Young Munster to a one point win over Dungannon.
The Tyrone side trailed 10-6 at the break after tries from Alan Kingsley and Matthew Costelloe but James Shiells made a game of it with 12 points from the boot.
In Division TwoLansdowne enjoyed a 52-18 win over Thomond and their Division 3counterparts Midleton beat Barnhall 16-8 at Parsonstown.
