The Labour candidate in Dublin North West has accused the Progressive Democrats of "cheap electioneering in their policy on lone parents.

Ms Roisin Shortall said the causes of lone parenthood were complex. "The aim of social policy should be to encourage two parent families and our tax and social welfare systems should encourage this option, but there are many other factors," she said.
