The body of a young woman found hidden in undergrowth in a field in Co Cork has been identified as that of missing local girl, Sheola Keaney (19).
The 19-year-old from Glenanaar disappeared on Friday being last seen at around 10am walking in the Rushbrook area of the town.
About 20 gardai spent two days searching for the local teenager when they made he grim discovery of the body hidden in undergrowth in a field near Cobh Pirates' ground.
Officers found the partially clothed body, which had been wrapped in sheets, at around 8.30pm yesterday.
It was lying around 200 yards from where clothes were found earlier in the day. Following a preliminary examination at the scene gardai confirmed it to be Miss Keaney.
The body has been removed to Cork University Hospital where a full post mortem is under way.
A gardai technical team is carrying out a forensic examination of the area where Miss Keaney's body was found.
