Police in Belfast are hunting a gang of three raiders who shot a man in an attempted car-jacking at his home in Newtownabbey, Co Antrim, yesterday evening.

The 39-year-old victim opened the door of his house in Iona Park at around 7.00 p.m. to be confronted by the three armed men.

He was forced backwards into the living room and pushed to the floor.

The assailants then demanded the keys to his Mercedes, but when he was unable to produce them, they shot him once in the right lower leg before escaping.
