Gaelic Games:Both clubs involved in the mass brawl during the All-Ireland junior club football semi-final have had players suspended and been hit by fines following a Central Competitions Control Committee (CCCC) investigation into the incident in Portlaoise last Sunday week.

Tyrone club Derrytresk, who won the game, are understood to have had eight players suspended and have been handed a €5,000 fine, while Kerry club Dromid Pearses have had three players suspended and a fine of €2,000 imposed.

Both clubs are expected to announce their response and possible appeals in the next 24 hours after they called emergency meetings tonight.

Four starting players and four substitutes from Derrytresk have reportedly been handed suspensions totalling 16 months, ruling them out of next Sunday week’s final against Galway side Clonbur at Croke Park.

One Dromid player is understood to have been suspended for five months, with a two-month and one-month ban also handed down.

The clubs can request a hearing from the GAA’s Central Hearings Committee or chose to takes their cases to the Central Appeals Committee.
