Mr Seamus Close has resigned as deputy leader of the Alliance Party of Northern Ireland

Mr Seamus Close has resigned as deputy leader of the Alliance Party of Northern Ireland. Mr Close said he was standing down after 10 years in the post but would remain in the party.

A spokesman cited differences over election strategies as the main reason Mr Close had stood down. These included the decision not to run in some constituencies during the Westminster election.
