Dushanbe - Security forces and Islamist opposition fighters clashed near Tajikistan's capital yesterday, further threatening a shaky peace accord in the former Soviet republic. "Two opposition fighters were killed in a shoot-out with police in Kofarnikhon," south of Dushanbe, an Interior Ministry source said. In a separate incident, government troops and guerrillas fought for an hour east of Dushanbe yesterday, leaving one government soldier wounded.
