The newly-appointed district judge for Co Clare is Judge Joseph Mangan, following the retirement of Judge Al O'Dea. From Kilmihil, Co Clare, Judge Mangan lives in Ennis. He has been a moveable judge of the District Court for 17 years.

Prior to his appointment as a district judge, he practised as a solicitor in Ennis, Shannon and Limerick. He is married with four children.

Mr John Callinan, president of the Clare Law Association, said Judge Mangan had "no little expertise".

"We are looking forward to working with him and hope he will have a long number of happy years in Ennis and the other district courts in Clare."
